This alfubet can be used to teach English SOUNDS to non-English speakers, using only the letters on a standard keyboard. The challenge was to select a different letter for each sound in English. Caps and small letters are allowed to represent different sounds. 中文在最下面
A = the a of cape
a = the a of cap
aw = the sound in awl, all, thought, naughty
[note: I use small o for the a of father, because it rhymes with pot]
B and b both are b as in bed
CH = ch as in chess
c – not needed, because it is either s or k.
d = d as in dog
e = as in bed. English “any” will be spelled “eNE.”
E = as in media (new spelling mEdEu)
F and f are the same, the f sound as in fame and Phone
G and g are the same, always hard G, as in game
H and h are the same, as in hat
I = as in ice (see note 1 at bottom of page)
i = as in hit
J and j the same, as in jut
K and k = the beginning of kin, cat
L as in lad. (small L not used because it looks like an “I”)
M and m are the same, as in ma
N as in nun
ng = soft ng sound as in ringer (finger would be fingGer)
O = as in hope.
o = as in hot. Same sound as “a” in father.
[use 2 o’s for the sound in book, put, would]
(but food is fUd, and thought is thawt)
P and p are the same, as in pet
Q – do not use, because the sound is represented by kU (example: kUest)
r = as in red
R = the rolled “r,” as in Spanish “arriba”
s = as in set
SH = the “sh” sound, as in show
t = as in tin
TH = the hard “th” sound, as in “thick.”
th = the soft “th” sound, as in “the.”
U = as in rude. The word “you” would be spelled EU, and “feud” is fEUd.
oU = as in pound, frown.
u = as in hut. Same sound as in “above” (new spelling is ubuv)
V and v are the same, as in van
X = hard throaty sound at end of German Ach
x = softly escaping air as in German ich, heilig
y – not used for English words. Represents the German umlaut u sound
Y is used when starting with E is not sufficient, for example, to differentiate ear from year.
z = as in zen, and soft plurals like pens (new spelling “penz”)
Z = use for the sound in the middle of “measure,” and at the beginning of “Jacque.”
r in combinations:
fir and fer are both spelled fur.
since father is spelled fothur, therefore “far” is spelled “fo-ur.” Four is “fO-ur”
SAMPLES.
THE NUMBERS.

Note 1. The letter I (as in bike) in the ABC’s could also be written as a combination of the o in hot plus the e in me. That is reflected in words like the English “aisle,” where ai is used to represent I. This alfubet retains the letter I as a short way to write the combination, because this alfubet wil usually be used by people who have been exposed to the ABC’s, and thus have already associated the letter I with the combination oE.
