THE FOUR PARTS OF THE SALVATION MESSAGE
Note how the underlined portions in the scriptures below can be placed into these four categories:
PROBLEM — Separation from God due to disobeying God, shown by God’s LAW
ANSWER — GOSPEL: Jesus: a) who He is, and b) what He did
INVITATION — repentance and faith
BENEFITS — such as forgiveness, eternal life, fullness of life, and many others.
Colossians 1:21-23 You were enemies of God because of your evil thoughts and deeds, but now God has made you into his friends again through the physical death of his Son, so you can appear before God without blemish and without condemnation, if you continue firmly in faith.
Acts 10:44 says that the Holy Spirit fell upon a group of people that Peter was speaking to. It is instructive to note what Peter was telling them. Note that Peter’s words in Acts 10 contains the same four categories as seen above: 36 You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, proclaiming the Good News of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. 39 They killed him by nailing him to the cross, but God raised him on the third day,. 43. All the prophets testify that through faith in his name, everyone who believes in him has forgiveness of sins.
Ephesians 2:12b-13. You were without hope and without God in the world, but now, in Christ Jesus, you who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Titus 3:3-7. We also once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our lives in malice and envy, hating others and others hating us. But when the kindness of God our savior and his love for manking appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of how many right things we have done, but because He had mercy on us, by the washing of new birth and being made new by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that because we have been made right with God through His grace, we have hope because we will inherit eternal life.
Acts 2:22 Jesus of Nazareth was a man whose divine authority was clearly proven to you by all the miracles and wonders which God performed through Him. 23 You killed him by letting sinful men nail him to the cross. 24 But God raised Him from death 36 This Jesus, whom you crucified, is the one that God has made Lord and Messiah. 37 (the people asked what they should do) 38 Peter said to them, “Repentand be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 3:18. The things which God announced beforehand through the prophets, that His Christ should suffer, He has thus fulfilled. Therefore repent and return, that your sins may be wiped away.
Acts 5:30 The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from death, after you had killed him by nailing him to the cross. God raised Him to His right side as Leader and Savior, to give the people of Israel the opportunity to repent and have their sins forgiven.
Acts 13:28 Even though they could find to reason to pass the death sentence on him, they asked Pilate to have him put to death. 29 And after they had done everything that the Scriptures say about Him, they took Him down from the cross and placed Him in a tomb. 30 But God raised Him from death 38 All of you … are to know for sure that it is through Jesus that the message about forgiveness of sins is preached to you; you are to know that everyone who believes in him is set free from all the sins from which the Law of Moses could not set you free.
Romans 5:1 Therefore having been justified through faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. James Found 1997
