Acts 10:44 says that the Holy Spirit fell upon a group of people that Peter was speaking to. It is helpful to know what Peter was telling them: “36 You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, proclaiming the Good News of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. 39 They killed him by nailing him to the cross, but God raised him on the third day,. 43. All the prophets testify that through faithin his name, everyone who believes in him has forgiveness of sins.”

I Corinthians 15:1-4. tells us that the word “gospel” is used to describe this message about Jesus: “Now I make known to you the gospel which I preached to you … by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I have preached unto you: otherwise you have believed in vain.… that Christ died for our sins, according to

the Scriptures, and that he was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”

Ephesians 2:1, 8, 12b-13. You were dead in transgressions and sins … It is by grace you were saved, through faith …You were without hope and without God in the world, but now, in Christ Jesus, you who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Titus 3:3-7. We also once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our lives in malice and envy, hating others and others hating us. But when the kindness of God our savior and his love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of how many right things we have done,

but because He had mercy on us, by the washing of new birth and being made new by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that because we have been made right with God through His grace, we have hope because we will inherit eternal life.

Acts 2:22 Jesus of Nazareth was a man whose divine authority was clearly proven to you by all the miracles and wonders which God performed through Him. 23  You killed him by letting sinful men nail him to the cross. 24 But God raised Him from death 36 This Jesus, whom you crucified, is the one that God has made Lord and Messiah. 37 (the people asked what they should do) 38 Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 5:30 The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from death, after you had killed him by nailing him to the cross. God raised Him to His right side as Leader and Savior, to give the people of Israel the opportunity to repent and have their sins forgiven.

Acts 13:28 Even though they could find no reason to pass the death sentence on him, they asked Pilate to have him put to death. 29 And after they had done everything that the Scriptures say about Him, they took Him down from the cross and placed Him in a tomb. 30 But God raised Him from death 38 All of you are to know for sure that it is through Jesus that the message about forgiveness of sins is preached to you; you are to know that everyone who believes in him is set free from all the sins from which the Law of Moses could not set you free.

Romans 3:22-25  This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe … for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.  God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.

Romans 5:1 Therefore having been justified through faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.                                  James Found 1997, 2002, 2003
