The angel said to Mary, “Do not be afraid, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.” Luke 1:30-33

When he (a man with an evil spirit) saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?”.. .For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you evil spirit!” The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” He gave them permission, and the evil spirits came out and went into the pigs. To all who receive him (Jesus), to all who believed in his name, he gave the right to become Children of God. John 1:12

For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. Romans 8:13-15

Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is

what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are

children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears,

we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.  1 John 3:1-2

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and your protection. Psalm 91:1-4

Unfortunately today there are those who deny that there could be a Most High God. They claim that all religions are of equal value and you can simply choose the one that fits your need. There are also those who feel that each person should get in touch with the god within themselves. Many reject the idea of submitting to the Most High. They are not unlike Satan who boasted, “I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High”.   Isaiah 14:14    Satan however, instead of being lifted high, was brought down to “the pit”.

  1. What happens as we begin to get a broader vision of the Most High?

Hovering around him were mighty angels.. .In a great chorus they sang, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts; the whole earth is filled with his glory.” The singing shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire sanctuary was filled with smoke. Then I said, “I am doomed, for I am a sinful man and a member of a sinful race. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord Almighty!” Isaiah 6:1-3

  1. As we view his holiness we become more aware of our sin and need for forgiveness.

If we say we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong.  1 John 1:8-9
